Dave Harward | Founder & Head Coach

Plan 7 Endurance Coaching was founded in 2007 by accomplished road bike, mountain bike, cyclocross and distance running racer Dave Harward. An endurance athlete for over 20 years, Dave was the 2010 Utah State Criterium Champion, the 2004 Category 1/2 Utah Road Race State Champion and has finished with a 2nd place State Championship Road Race performance in 2006, 2008, and 2010.

Dave won the 2006 and 2010 Pro/1/2 Utah Cycling Association Points Series. In 2011, he also won the Utah Criterium Points series with numerous victories, making it his eighth consecutive series title. Other race highlights include participation in the 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010 Tours of Utah. In the 2010 Tour of Utah, Dave’s squad rode in support of Francisco Mancebo who finished 2nd overall behind Levi Leipheimer. A great honor for Dave was being named Utah Cycling's 2010 Male Road Racer of the Year.

Dave is a USA Cycling Level 1 Certified Coach, and a POSE Method of Running Certified Coach. He is also a Body Geometry and BikeFit Pro certified bike fitter.

He recently attended the Power Based Certification Seminar and  in order to add to his long list of qualifications. He coaches endurance athletes in a variety of disciplines including road cycling, mountain biking, cyclocross, motocross, triathlon and trail/ultra running.


Mark Deterline | Coach & Mentor

In 2011, Dave partnered with longtime friend and elite road bike competitor Mark Deterline. A bicycle industry veteran of almost twenty years, Mark has been a contributing technical and training writer for LAVA Magazine, Triathlete Magazine, xtri.com and Cycling Utah. He has also translated numerous articles and book chapters for VeloNews and VeloPress.

Mark has managed and raced for top Northern California Pro/1/2 racing squads since 2006. In 2010, he founded the Fremont Bank Cycling Team which he co-manages with former Jr National rider Andrew Kennedy.

Mark is a certified Nordic ski instructor and has participated in numerous cross-country ski races, including two editions of the American Birkebeiner international marathon event at the Wave 1 level.
